Introduction to Sustainability

Opleidingen & Trainingen

Understand Sustainable Development Better
Sustainable development is not static. Over time, individuals and groups have defined the concept differently. The focus has shifted between different areas of life. On this course, you will get familiar with sustainable development as a political and normative concept.

Sustainable development is not one thing. On this course, you will look at sustainable development from different angles. As a result, you learn to recognize its ecological, social, economic and cultural dimensions. Every dimension is an essential part of sustainable development, even if there is conflict between them.

You cannot solve sustainability crises alone, but there are ways to help. You need multidisciplinary cooperation and problem-solving skills to tackle the various problems related to sustainable development, such as climate change. During the course, you get to tap into the significance of individual agency and global responsibility as well as the need for comprehensive transformation.

The course consists of the following chapters:

– Sustainable development as a concept and in politics
– Ecological sustainability
– Social sustainability
– Economic sustainability
– Cultural sustainability
– Towards a sustainable future

The course is part of UNA Europa Micro-credential in Sustainability.
